Wedding season 2023 has been nothing short of incredible. We were lucky enough to have such a good summer with plenty of stunning locations, sunny days and gorgeous wedding marquees.

It’s always amazing to see how our clients put their stamp on their marquees, making each one different and personal to them.

Bantham Bash

One of our favourite sites to work at and you can see why, the stunning views of Burgh Island, a big open flat field, and beautiful views all around.

Powderham Castle

A fully clear 12m x 24m marquee to make the most of those beautiful views. Joe and Rose chose our cross-back chairs paired with our round tables, we think it looks stunning.

East Prawle

We can’t forget about this beauty back in August at East Prawle. Wonderful use of the clear bell at the front of the main marquee to sit back in our comfortable sofas and overlook the sea all around.

Wedding season 2022 has been nothing short of incredible. With the catch up from covid weddings from 2020 and 2021, it was so good to see our clients finally have their special Hatch Marquee Wedding. We were lucky enough to have such a good summer with plenty of stunning locations, sunny days and gorgeous wedding marquees.

The Hatch Team

With us erecting 8 marquees a week, it has been an awesome wedding season. From St Austell in Cornwall to Chard in Somerset, we really have travelled a lot of miles this Summer and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing team. They have worked so hard this year and we were lucky to have so many helpful employees who were happy to go the extra mile for our clients. From hanging hundreds of lanterns, to moving bars, the team have done amazing! With some of our busiest months the team have worked nearly 230 hours a month and we couldn’t have done it without them! We have also travelled many miles to the most idyllic spots all over the South West.

At the end of a busy wedding season its good to look back on our Summer and go through all the beautiful photos of our clients and their families & friends enjoying the marquees. We also receive lots of lovely thank you cards and reviews on Google and Facebook which we really appreciate!

Our first wedding of the season was our Director, Dave’s. After postponing his own wedding twice after Covid, it was good to start the wedding season with a special wedding at Bantham Bash which we all enjoyed together.

We can’t forget about this beauty back in May, at Langdon Barton, Wembury . Wonderful use of the clear bell at the front of the main marquee to sit back in our comfortable sofas and overlook the Mewstone.

How lucky were we to be working at John Bray’s Field, Rock, Cornwall in this gorgeous weather.

We erected three bespoke marquees for this fabulous wedding in July in Malborough , Devon.

We’re so glad we were able to help create something rather special for Mount Kelly College’s 2022 Summer Ball. How awesome do these colours look together! It’s so nice to see something a bit different.

We love being asked to do farm weddings, as each location is unique. A bespoke venue to bring your ideas to life. Check out the garden furniture at this wedding near Holsworthy – they really made the most of the outside!

Another one of our incredible wedding venues we love to work at Porthilly Farm in Cornwall is a popular Cornwall beach wedding site. The large field site is raised above the beach and has superb uninterrupted views across the Camel estuary to Padstow and Rock Sailing Club.

Little Dartmouth – this is a site we have been lucky enough to do a few marquees at this year, and it’s becoming popular, and you can see why with those views!

Make a Wedding ‘To Do’ List

Create a list of everything you need to do and from that, in time, make some sub lists (yes, we love a list!). There is a lot to consider and organise but don’t let it feel overwhelming. Do your list making together and then you can choose which items of your wedding preparations to do together and which to do individually. Prioritise the important things and tick off items once they are done and that way you can see the progress you are making with your wedding preparations!

Have a budget and stick to it!

Make a budget for your day, there is no point in designing a day which is completely beyond your financial means. There are ways of trimming the budget (eg. number of guests, style of catering, free bar/paying bar) so make sure you have a good idea of what you can afford.

Book the Essentials First

Once you have decided on the date, book the essentials first. It sounds silly but don’t plan the table your decorations if you don’t have a ceremony booked or your venue/marquee. Each year some weekends get booked up really quickly, so don’t get caught out. Ceremony, marquee, caterer, photographers/bands are key components and all need to be available on the same day! Once these are sorted you can start thinking about and all the other details.

Clear Roof Marquees – quite simply they look AWESOME!

It can be difficult to decide how you want your marquee to look, so let us introduce you to our clear roof marquees and how they can transform a beautiful marquee into something quite extraordinary!

Clear roof marquees allow light to flood into the marquee bringing the outside closer. If you have a fantastic coast or country view or perhaps a beautiful building close by, these features become very much part of your day. The great thing about frame marquees is their flexibility in creating functional spaces and we can use clear roofs to define different spaces within a marquee. We often use them as a feature over a dance floor, which means that during the evening you can dance the night away under the stars! Or we can use them to create a bar/reception area either as part of the main marquee or as a marquee bubble attached to the main marquee. We stock clear roofs and gable ends as well as clear roofs for our round end roof sections so there are a huge variety of options when it comes to layout and design, making each marquee very personal and purpose built for each event.

It’s live having your very own glass house with the added advantage that you can build it in a location that suits you!

Clear roof marquees lend themselves to having decorations hanging from the roof space and paper lanterns, pom poms look really effective particularly if they are lit with small battery operated lights. , Or why not bring the outside in…. with hanging branches, fairy lights, small lit lanterns, white paper stars, silver baubles – beautiful!

And for the ‘wow’ factor a specially made suspended lighting rig with plenty of lush green foliage. This marquee looks amazing by day, so romantic, fresh and airy and as the evening falls the lighting rig adds a lovely atmosphere to the space.

Wedding Tables – Round or Trestle, that is the question!

It might seem funny to write about wedding tables, however, is quite an integral part of your wedding marquee. It has an impact on how your marquee will look and your guests mingle.

What sort of wedding tables layout works in the space?

In a marquee, its quite easy, as you should have a suitable size space for the number of guests. In a frame marquee it is even easier as you don’t need to negotiate internal poles. This means there are no restrictions as to where you put a dance floor or dining tables. First consideration is whether you want round tables or trestle tables, in long rows of smaller groups.

Round wedding tables . We generally use 5’6″ round tables which seat ten people. Although you can have 6′ rounds (seating up to 12 people) or 5′ rounds (seating up to 8 people). Round tables enable all guests to chat together. This is great whether you have a group of close friends or are gathering people that perhaps haven’t met before. Just one thing to think about if you want the table conversation to flow; avoid large, tall, bushy table displays which look fantastic but mean the guests can’t see who is on the other side of the table. They can inadvertently be a conversation stopper!

Trestle wedding tables . Trestles (6′ x 3′) are used to sit six people, three along each side. They can be used singularly or for banquet style dining, placed end to end in twos, threes or more. Trestles are really adaptable and can be set up in different arrangements and look really stylish with decorations running the length of the tables. However, they are possibly a little less sociable as you don’t have the ability to chat with as many people, especially if you are sat on the end of a run of tables.

Both trestles and round tables need to have tablecloths. The exception is our new rustic wooden trestles which have a fantastic thick wooden top, white legs and look great!

Do you have a top wedding table?

It’s up to you! When you think of a top table, it’s usually a long table with seating just on one side. We offer an oval table which allows those seated on the rounded ends to chat more easily. A long top table means that you can see all your friends and family gathered and interact with them a little during dinner. Alternatively you can use a round table, which is less formal and allows the bride and groom to chat with all those on the top table.

Who do you sit with who?

When you are gathering a group of friends and family, inevitably there is a bit of shuffling around when it comes to seating arrangements. Try not to get to bogged down with it, generally keep couples together and mix people up a bit, try to put at least a couple of people, who know each other, on each table – it helps get guest chatting.

Wedding Marquee Lighting – How To Light Up Your Marquee!

Weddings are all about romance and celebration. Naturally, you really want your marquee to look beautiful and to be an inviting space for your guests. Lighting is key to creating atmosphere. and In this blog we take a look at some of the options available to help you get your wedding marquee looking just perfect.

1. Functional Lighting

All marquees need some element of functional lighting. This can come in the form of pendant lights, chandeliers or up lighters. All can be installed on dimmer switches so that the light can be set to suit the time of day/night. We tend to favour up lighters as they sit at the base of the linings and up light the walls of the marquee creating a subtle but practical background light.

Other more functional lighting might be required for catering tents (strip lights), or to light car parks, paths to toilets where a floodlight can be installed.

2. Decorative Lighting

This is the fun stuff. Depending on how you are decorating your marquee might depend on the style of lighting you choose:

Chandeliers: add a bit of glamour to your marquee with chandeliers, great for creating a stylish traditional wedding marquee or for adding a bit of elegance to the roof space in a clear roof marquee.

Fairy Lights: can be used behind the roof linings to give a pretty romantic look – these look great day and night.

Festoon Lighting: traditional large bulb lights can be strung in the roof space below the marquee linings on a dimmer switch. By day or night it adds atmosphere and works really well with flat marquee linings as shown below.

Alternatively they can be strung from the roof space along with fairy lights behind the linings to give a fantastic mix! It looks brilliant whether you opt for linings or have a clear roof marquee – plenty of twinkle!

Starcloth Linings: for pure twinkle factor, starcloth linings look fabulous! White starcloth is pretty and romantic whilst the black starcloth is usually used over a dance floor to add a bit of drama! Dividing curtains can be used during the day so that dance floor area is hidden and then when the time comes you can make the big reveal for the evening celebrations.

Lighting Rigs: if you are having a band or doing your own music and just want to get the party started then how about adding a lighting rig for great party atmosphere – it is sure to get your guests dancing all the night!

3. Hanging Lighting

Paper Lanterns: These have grown in popularity in the past few years and are a great feature often adding colour as well as light to the roof space. They can be used with small battery operated lights so they glow as the evening draws in.

Hanging Greenery & Lighting: for total ‘wow’ factor your lighting can get completely theatrical and look simply amazing. Combing foliage on a suspended structure with hanging lights creates a spectacular feature to your marquee by day and night.

4.Table Decorations

Candles: there is something special about a candelabra decorating tables at a wedding reception, but you can also get creative and use candles to make your own personal centre piece to suit your theme. Candles won’t add much light but are great at adding to the romance.

Table Lights: Here’s a lovely idea – glass bottles filled with led fairy lights! In this photo the bottles have been used as table plans which can then decorate each table. So effective especially for a wintry wedding when the evenings are darker much earlier.

5. Outdoor Lighting

Don’t forget to think about lighting outside your marquee, for both practical and decorative reasons. You can really add to the ambiance by lighting an outdoor area or help welcome evening guests by lighting a pathway.

Festoon Lighting: Use festoon lights on poles to light any outdoor space adjacent to the marquee or to light a pathway to/from the marquee.

Top Tips for Hanging Decorations

Hanging Decorations in Your Marquee

Hanging decorations in the lofty roof space of the marquee is one of the best ways to decorate. It adds colour and atmosphere which combined with fairy or festoon lighting transforms the marquee from day to night. To give you a little help along the way, we have some guidance notes on hanging decorations in our marquees.

Bunting

Bunting can be hung from the ridge of the marquee to the top of the side walls. It is up to you as to how many lines of bunting you wish to put up. It can also be hung along the top of the walls throughout the marquee. Based on the size of your marquee you will need to calculate how much bunting you will need. Remember to ensure an allowance to enable the bunting to hang rather than being taut.

The key measurement that you will need is from the top of the wall to the ridge of the marquee.

– For a 9m width marquee allow 5.5m from the top of the wall to the ridge (this measurement has an allowance for the bunting to hang).

– For a 12m width marquee allow 7m from the top of the wall to the ridge (this measurement has an allowance for the bunting to hang.)

Allow some extra length to for tying the bunting to the metal framework of the marquee. Please don’t pin or sew any bunting strings to the marquee linings as this damages them.

Paper Lanterns

Paper Lanterns can be hung from ribbon or wiring of various lengths creating a fantastic decorative feature. There are a few options as to how to attach these to the marquee

– Lanterns can be hung from the metal framework which can be accessed every 3m along the length of the marquee.

– We can supply you with clips enabling you to hang your paper lanterns from the marquee linings. Please do not pin any items to the linings themselves as this will damage them

– Lanterns can be hung on long lengths of ribbon or fishing wire (which can’t be seen) and then hung from the ridge to the top of the wall.

We are happy to assist with hanging bunting and paper lanterns on the day that we erect the marquee. Please let us know prior to installation so that we can allow some time for this in our schedule and have a bit of a plan as to what you would like to do!

Flower Balls

Flower installations look fantastic hung from the ridge of the marquee – see the diagram below to get a feel for the hanging points within the marquee.

Hanging Larger Structures

With regards to hanging foliage structures and lighting it really does look amazing! We don’t supply rigs as everyone wants something different. However, we can assist with hanging structures if they are available on the day that we build the marquee. We can of course supply sockets and make sure they are put in the right place for any lighting.

Clients have been really creative with these structures using ladders, wooden poles or making square wooden frames which are hung from the purlins. We do need to make sure that you don’t come across any problems when suspending structures – so please follow the guidelines below:

– If your marquee is lined: structures can be suspended from the metal work of the marquee on the ridge and purlins which can be accessed every 3m (length ways).

– Any structure must not exceed 10kg per 3m purlin.

– If your marquee is unlined: structures can be suspended from the metal work of the marquee along the ridge and purlins. Any structure must not exceed 10kg per 3m purlin.

– We can supply either 16amp Cee Form sockets or standard 13amp sockets for power if you are adding your own lighting to the structure.

– Once you have homed in on what you would like to do, just let us know and we can make sure it is going to work when it comes to hanging it!

Wedding Marquees – How to Use the Space

Your marquee gives you a rectangular room to fill with everything you need for your wedding day. But how do you use the space? As your marquee supplier, we can help you choose the best option for your day, but it is worth having a think about what you want your marquee to do for you.

1. Different Zones in your Marquee

Marquees can be divided into different areas to enable you to congregate people together for a ceremony, receptions drinks, dining and later dancing.

To create a physical barrier we can install a dividing curtain, these are a really practical solution if you want to section off an area of the marquee. This might be to hold a ceremony and then the curtain is raised once you are ready to dine or to hide the dance floor/band area which you don’t want on show until the evening. We can also use a dividing curtain if we need to reduce the size of the marquee during the afternoon prior to more guests arriving in the evening.

Below is an example of a wedding marquee layout with an image of the real thing underneath!

We can also add a marquee onto the side of the main structure; again this often has clear roofs and is referred to as a ‘bubble’ and is usually used as a reception area. Brides and Grooms sometimes want this extra space if they are concerned about providing shelter if the weather isn’t tip top for pre-dining drinks and then later it can be used as the bar area.

To create a visual division we can use clear roofs to create a different feel to an area. The clear roofs are often used over dance floors or for reception/bar areas (as above).However, if you are feeling creative then how about something decorative to separate areas by using topiary, potted plants or hanging decorations. The wedding marquee below used potted olive and lavender plants to separate the bar and dining areas.

2. Table Layouts

Have a think about what style of tables you would like to use and whether you want a top table or not. Round tables enable guests to be able to chat easily and usually seat 8 or 10 people.

Alternatively you can use trestle tables singularly or have longer rows for banquet style dining.

3. Party Time

Decide if you are going to have a band or DJ or manage music yourself with speakers and an ipod. if you are having a band then we need to allow some space behind the dance floor for them to set up. Staging is great as it makes the band more visible, but it isn’t always necessary if you need to keep costs down. Of course you will want space to party, so a dance floor is a must – we can give guidance on the size to make sure that you have enough room for your family and friends to dance the night away.

4. Bars and Extra Tables

Space will usually be needed for a bar area so make an allowance and think about whether you want your bar nearer the dance floor or away from the hubbub. Also you may require extra tables for buffets, cakes, presents etc.

5. Chill Out Area

If you want to let your guests, relax, chat and chill out for a while then a little space set aside for a couple of sofas and coffee tables away from the band and the party goers can be a good idea. it can be a good spot for more elderly family and friends to congregate, so they are still part of the celebrations but not in the thick of the action! To incorporate additional space like this will require a bit of planning to ensure that your marquee is big enough.

6. Games and Photo Booths

Photo Booths are a popular addition to weddings and come in all shapes and sizes. think about where you want to position your booth to capture lots of great photos of your guests – don’t tuck it out of the way too much. If you have several children to entertain why not give them a selection of toys/activities to do – giant games like Jenga/Connect Four can be a fun addition for the kids and they don’t take up too much room or can be played outside.

So whatever your ideas for your special day, have a think about how you want to use the space and we can put together a layout that will make it work for you.

Autumn Marquee Weddings

If you are still hoping to put your wedding date in the diary this year, but feel that June, July or August don’t quite give you enough time to put all your plans into place, then how about an Autumn marquee wedding. We have been providing frame marquee hire for Devon and Cornwall weddings for many years and September/October are great months for a wedding and there are plenty of reasons why!

Devon and Cornwall obviously attract many visitors during the peak summer months but as the large number of holiday makers head home at the end of the school holidays, September and October are rather special months for a marquee wedding. There are quieter beaches, more accommodation options, changing autumnal landscapes and beautiful warm tones that work brilliantly in photos. Plus we often get to enjoy a late Indian summer which means plenty of sunshine!

Whilst many people home in on May/June as a preferred wedding month, as wedding marquee providers we love the start of Autumn as the evenings begin to draw in more. It means that lighting can play a big part in your evening reception, creating a whole new look to your marquee. Fairy lights, starcloth linings, coloured up lighters and lanterns are great for adding ambience, something that can’t be enjoyed until much later in the evening during the nights when it doesn’t get dark until almost 10pm.

If you are concerned about the temperature dropping in the evening then we can supply thermostatically controlled marquee heaters which will keep the marquee lovely and toasty and warm. This also means that everyone will gather in the marquee making sure that your evening will be full of atmosphere and fun.

There is lots of fun to be had with decorating your marquee as well. Of course, you can choose whatever colour or theme you like for your marquee, but if you want to take inspiration from the season then warm colours can bring an original look to your marquee. Decorating Your Wedding Marquee – Tips and Ideas

This is the best part where you both get to put your stamp on your day; nothing can be more personal than a marquee wedding where you get to create your own venue from start to finish. As most big celebrations are planned well in advance you will have time to think about how you want your wedding marquee to look. Lots of décor ideas can be done by yourself and don’t rely on a large budget but, if DIY decorating is cause for concern, read on as you may pick up some ideas which you hadn’t yet thought of.

Themes and Colours: Here in Devon and Cornwall we have plenty of inspiration from the colours that surround us, from the aqua sea blues and golden sandy beaches to the rustic moorland tones. Whatever you choose you won’t be restricted because a marquee is the perfect blank canvas; don’t worry about whether a certain colour or theme will work, they all will! The marquee itself has ivory linings and our carpet is a neutral beige or champagne. However, we can supply swags or drapes in a range of colours if you want to add colour to the marquee linings to coordinate with a theme. Otherwise it is easy to bring a splash of colour into your marquee with flowers, lanterns, bunting chair sashes, table runner and much more! Themes are great fun and can be all inclusive from your invitations to decorating your wedding marquee – we have seen some great ideas over the years with fabulous beach themed weddings, autumnal feasts with pumpkin decorations, white winter weddings, beautiful vintage style decors, to colourful mardi gras style celebrations. However, you don’t have to theme at all; a beautiful traditional wedding marquee with plenty of floral displays is just stunning and very romantic!

Wedding Flowers and Foliage: Traditionally flowers play a big part and are wonderful at adding colour to tables or make magnificent hanging displays.

Olive trees, bay trees, lavender bushes or other pot plants are a great way of decorating and entrance or for creating a physical barrier between two different areas such as dining and bar area. If you don’t want to take on all the organising you can hire topiary plants and have them delivered to your site, so you don’t need to worry about having to do this all yourself!

Bunting, Paper Lanterns, Pom Poms, and Hanging Decorations: we really recommend using the lofty roof space for decorating your wedding marquee. Use hanging decorations, to add atmosphere and colour. Whether you go bold, choose pastel shades or even white, bunting, paper lanterns, pom poms, foliage can be used to add the ‘wow’ factor to your event. Bunting and paper pom poms can be homemade for an individual touch, but there are also plenty of suppliers that you can buy or hire from. Paper Lanterns can be lit with small battery lights adding another dimension as the evening falls. You don’t have to use just one style of decoration; mix bunting and lanterns or hanging flower balls and bunting – it will look fantastic!

If you opt for a clear roof marquee then you can really go to town with foliage; twigs, fairy lights, baubles and hanging lanterns can be used to great effect.

Seating Plans and Table Decorations: Bringing a bit of you both into your wedding marquee gives a lovely personal touch to your day and your guests will love it as well. Chances are that you will want a seating plan to direct guests to tables. So if you fancy being creative then there are many ways to help your friends and family to their seats, from surfboards, glass panel doors, lollipop sticks (beach themed wedding) and suitcases. And instead of table numbers, why not name your tables after your favourite places, drinks, food, animals. Have a think about something that reflects your interests and have fun incorporating it into your seating plan stand and table decorations.

You’ve got engaged, celebrated with friends and family, set a date, now it’s time to make some decisions and plan the big day. if you are thinking about having a marquee wedding but are unsure if you can take on the organising, then let us guide you through the process and put your mind at rest.

Why opt for a marquee wedding?

We love marquees, so of course we are going to be bias, however, we really believe that because each wedding is such a personal and individual event that a marquee enables you to create exactly what you want from your day. Whether you choose to hold a marquee wedding at your family home, hire a field venue or book a marquee wedding venue, you can be certain that no one else will arrange their day in exactly the same way, meaning your day is uniquely made by you, for you.

Is it true that marquee weddings are a lot more work?

Not if you get right company on board. This is the short answer! It is true that there are probably more things to consider but that doesn’t mean it is all hard work, making sure that you have a reputable company working with you is key.

We are on hand from your first communication right the way through to the build and removal of your marquee. At your initial site visit we will look at the site and assess its suitability and discuss how you want your marquee to look, what size marquee you will need, the furnishings you would like to choose and decide on the layout that works for your day. Also we will make sure that you have sufficient power and toilet facilities and make arrangements to supply these items if they are required.

We will liase with all your suppliers to ensure that they have the correct power supply available and will coordinate delivery of any sub hires (eg toilets, fridge trailers and generators). When we handover the marquee to you, it will be ready for action!

So what do I need to do?

Site Visit: Once you have homed in on where you would like to hold your marquee event we would suggest getting together for a site visit. If you don’t have a site in mind but are looking for ideas take a look at our venue listing which features both field sites and established venues which host marquee events.

Prior to your site visit you do need to give some consideration to your budget, the number of guests, you would like to attend your reception and whether you have additional evening guests.

Also consider how you want your marquee to work for you. Most people opt for a dining marquee with a dance floor, but perhaps you are having a hog roast or bbq and don’t need seating for all your guests. Occasionally bride and grooms will use a marquee for their ceremony (this is usually a blessing or humanist service as you are not legally allowed to be married in a marquee) so we then can provide a layout which allows space for ceremony seating. Whatever your ideas have a think about what you would like so we an create a space that suits your wedding day.

Caterers: You will need to choose your caterer and there is a fantastic array of options here in the South West. We are lucky to get to work with some very talented people who source much of their produce from quality local suppliers and take great pride in the amazing food they serve. Your caterer will often run a bar for you as well as providing tableware and linen. Take a look at our recommended supplier listing to get you started, if you haven’t already booked a caterer.

Band/DJ: If you are planning to party the night away then you will also need to choose a band or DJ. There is a huge choice available and if you don’t have a band in mind, perhaps go and see a few gigs and have fun doing the research!

Other suppliers: Once you have got the big things sorted you may need to approach other companies to assist you other ideas you would like to put in place, from photo booths, bar companies, ice cream vans, bouncy castles etc. Plan you day and work out what is fun for you!

Can I decorate the marquee?

Yes, Yes Yes! Once you have booked your marquee you can get on with all the fun stuff. This is where you make your marquee your own; you can do as much or as little as you want, after all it is your marquee! If you’re the creative type then you will probably have lots of ideas as to how you will want the marquee to look. But don’t be put off if you’re not so sure, have a look at our gallery and pinterest for inspiration, it is a great way to get a feel for what really works well. Nearer the day – what do I have to do?

To be honest once you have booked your marquee you can pretty much leave the rest to us!

We will coordinate with your suppliers to ensure that they have sufficient space in the marquee along with liaising with them regarding their power requirements. We will check with you to see if there are any last minute alterations (chairs and table numbers often need tweaking) and confirm the day that we will be on site to erect the marquee.

Once on site our team of riggers will start to build your marquee and ensure that all electrics are tested so that we handover a fully functioning venue. It can be a good idea to have a designated person, or two (groom, bestman, parents) who know where the switches are for power, lights, toilets, gennie etc.

Once we are finished its over to you to dress the marquee (we can assist with hanging lanterns/bunting, if required). Quite often this is when the celebrations start as family and friends are often on hand to help get the marquee ready, alongside caterers and florists. Let the fun begin!

Marquee Venues… Location, Location, Location!

If you would like to have a marquee wedding, what makes a suitable site? Well firstly, a space that suits you, whether it is your family home, a friend’s field, a marquee venue with beautiful gardens or a site with a fantastic view. From our point of view the most suitable marquee venue sites have good access, no overhead electricity cables and a nice level site. However, it’s not all about us! We have erected marquees at plenty of sites which don’t fit into these categories and have made fantastic locations for a special celebration.

So, if your perfect venue is on a sloping site all is not lost, as some levelling can be achieved with a structural wooden floor or a raised platform can be built and the marquees erected on top. Such a platform was built for a wedding at a private residence on a beautiful tidal estuary in South Devon. The end result was quite spectacular. With a walkway leading to the garden party reception area, cloakrooms and a full dining marquee with a balcony to overlook the river views. Without doubt a marquee can really offer the wow factor!

And if you don’t have any green space are there other options available? Yes, of course. Across the South West there are many established venues that cater for marquee events and more recently we have seen the addition of landowners who hire out field sites.
